In Marafa village, Magarini Constituency, Kilifi County, a natural wonder locally known as “Nyari”, which loosely translates to “the place that broke itself,” is becoming more than just a tourist attraction. Known as “Hell’s Kitchen” to tourists, the site is located in the Dakatcha Woodland forest.
Through sustainable tourism, the local community is using this unique landscape to promote tourism and improve their livelihoods. The site has created jobs for locals, who have become tour operators under the Marafa Hell’s Kitchen Tour Operators group.
